Questions people ask
Do I need any experience to drive one of your boats?
No. The boats are self-drive and we run through everything with you before you set off — how she handles, where to go and what to watch for. The river speed limit is 5mph, so nothing happens quickly.
How far can we actually get?
Plan by time rather than distance. Days Lock and back is a comfortable two hours and is the trip most people take. The Beetle & Wedge at Moulsford, or Goring and Pangbourne, make a longer run. Oxford is a four to five hour cruise one way.
How many people can come?
Puff takes up to five and Mistral up to four. Ferrette, the old Benson weir ferry, takes up to ten and has a two hour minimum hire. Canoes and kayaks are hired individually.
Where do we meet you?
Benson Waterfront, Oxford Road, Benson, Wallingford, Oxon, OX10 6SJ. There is parking, a café and restaurant, and toilets and showers on site.
